GP Appraisals were introduced nationally on 1st April 2002. The appraisals process is a formative and developmental one which is about identifying the development needs of GPs. The content of appraisals is based on the GMC's core headings set out in the 'Good Medical Practice' document. For more information about appraisals please visit the Department of Health website There is an established countywide support panel. This panel is available for GPs requiring assistance with poor performance. The panel can be accessed directly or through the PCT either by the clinician or by colleagues where concern is raised. The panel is made up of clinicans and PCT Directors, lay members and clinical governance leads taken from each of the PCTs,who are able to offer advice and support where appropriate. |
