X-Ray Spectacular at Tewkesbury Hospital
19/05/2005
Cheltenham and Tewkesbury PCT is pleased to announce the official opening next week of the new X-Ray Department and Equipment at Tewkesbury Hospital. PCT Chair, Ruth FitzJohn, will unveil a brass plaque at a ceremony to be held at the Hospital on Thursday evening (19 May 18.00).
Accommodation at the hospital was redeveloped to provide a larger X-Ray department; which has improved access for patients and radiology staff as well as increased privacy and dignity. Work on this project began last summer and the new Department, with its new equipment, became fully operational just before Christmas last year. The total cost of the scheme was £210,000 (including a contribution of £85,000 from the Hospital League of Friends).
Modern Matron at Tewkesbury Hospital, Julie Garnham, explained:
"The new equipment is more flexible than the old kit and has enabled staff to obtain a greater variety of views (plates). The images can be stored digitally providing easy and quick retrieval of patient's x-rays and reducing the need for storage."
Ruth FitzJohn, PCT Chair, who will unveil the plaque next week, officially opening the new facility commented:
"The Hospital's League of Friends made a significant contribution towards the cost of the equipment. Their appeal is raised £85,000 and they hit their target at the Hospital Fete last summer."
Eileen Sinnott, Chair, League of Friends, added:
"The League has been associated with the Hospital in Tewkesbury for 40 years. The local community has always been very generous and their support for the X-Ray appeal was no exception."
