Flu Vaccination: Update
08/10/2004
Due to problems with the supply of Flu Vaccine, reported nationally this week, a practice in Cheltenham is having to reschedule vaccination sessions for their patients.
Alternative supplies of vaccine have been ordered, and will be available for the rescheduled sessions.
Leckhampton Practice in Cheltenham has had to cancel the remaining vaccination sessions it had planned for this month. However, it had already been able to offer vaccination to many of its patients at sessions held earlier this month, including yesterday evening (Thursday 8 October).
The vaccination session at Leckhampton Practice scheduled for tomorrow morning (Saturday 9 October 10.20 - 12.30) has had to be cancelled. If patients do arrive at the surgery, staff will be on hand to answer any questions and to give them details of the rescheduled vaccination sessions. Other sessions planned at Leckhampton Practice for the rest of October have also had to be rescheduled.
New dates are as follows:
Thursday 11 November 6.30 to 8.30 pm
Saturday 13 November 10.30 am to 12.30 pm
Thursday 18 November 6.30 to 8.30 pm
Saturday 20 November 10.30 am to 12.30 pm
Dr Toyin, Ejidokun, Consultant in Communicable Diseases, said:
"There is rarely a significant amount of flu before December, and it is often after Christmas. As long as people have the vaccine before flu arrives, they will be protected. The Department of Health has made arrangements to make extra vaccine available.
